A Lifeline for Displaced Ukrainians in the Kharkiv Region

Charitable Foundation “Chervona Kalyna Kharkiv” continues to lead vital humanitarian efforts across Eastern Ukraine. Throughout June 2025, the foundation’s team of volunteers has worked tirelessly to support internally displaced persons (IDPs), local communities, and frontline workers affected by war.

From organizing legal consultations and children’s events to distributing food aid and forming employment partnerships, the foundation exemplifies resilience and compassion in action.

June 19, 2025 — Food Relief for Displaced Families

The foundation distributed essential food kits to families from the Dvorichanska community of Kharkiv region. These humanitarian food packages provide critical support to IDPs, many of whom are still struggling to meet basic needs after displacement.

June 18, 2025 — A Partnership Rooted in Community

Volunteers visited the Baranove district to strengthen collaboration with local residents and volunteers. The foundation received homegrown produce, dairy, and homemade preserves from villagers — a heartfelt contribution that went straight to the foundation’s “Kitchen of Kindness,” which prepares meals for IDPs and military personnel.

Children of the community also shared colorful drawings for Ukrainian defenders, part of the foundation’s ongoing art therapy program.

June 15–17, 2025 — Building Opportunities Through Employment

In partnership with the Kharkiv Regional Employment Center, over 50 volunteers and IDPs assisted in unloading and sorting humanitarian aid. This physically demanding work is part of a broader initiative to involve displaced people in socially beneficial activities, providing them with purpose, dignity, and a chance to help others.

June 12 & 9, 2025 — A Summer of Joy for Children

Children from displaced families enjoyed joyful summer activities, including:

  • 🎈 A bubble show and party (June 6)

  • 🎪 A circus-themed event with treats and gifts (June 9)

Thanks to support from Food Bank Ukraine, these moments brought laughter and a sense of normalcy to children affected by war.

June 10, 2025 — Humanitarian Support for Ukrainian Soldiers

New partners LLC “RUSH” and EVA Stores provided hygienic kits for Ukrainian defenders. These supplies offer more than physical care — they are symbols of solidarity and support.

June 7, 2025 — Responding to Crisis in Kharkiv

After another difficult night of shelling in Kharkiv, the foundation mobilized to support emergency workers. Volunteers served hot tea, fresh pastries, and cold water to utility crews and local residents affected by the strikes.

June 6–4, 2025 — Cooking with Purpose

Every day, the “Kitchen of Kindness” prepares hundreds of meals for soldiers, IDPs, and the vulnerable. From sweet apple pies to hot sausage rolls, each dish is made with care and delivered with dignity.

June 1–3, 2025 — Legal Aid and Psychological Relief

Earlier in June, the foundation hosted free legal consultations for IDPs, in collaboration with Caritas Kharkiv. Attendees received assistance on:

  • Social benefit claims

  • Housing compensation

  • Inheritance rights

  • Healthcare access

This was complemented by art therapy sessions, giving children a safe space for healing and expression.

As war wages on, Chervona Kalyna Kharkiv remains a beacon of hope. Through food, friendship, and tireless volunteer work, the foundation ensures that no one is left behind.
