Since the beginning of the full-scale war, which brought grief and destruction to the east of Ukraine, the Chervona Kalyna Kharkiv Charitable Foundation has been tirelessly fulfilling its mission, supporting not only IDPs and needy families, but also our defenders standing on the front lines. At the heart of this process are volunteers – people who, despite all the difficulties, give their time, energy and warmth every day to provide soldiers with hot and nutritious food.
Support Front in the Face of Constant Shelling
Volunteers of the Chervona Kalyna Kharkiv Foundation work in extremely difficult conditions. There are practically no safe places left, because Kharkiv and its region are under constant shelling. However, despite the threat to their lives, volunteers continue their work, preparing food for our defenders on the front lines. These people not only perform ordinary tasks – their daily work becomes a real front of support for those who are fighting for the freedom of Ukraine.
The foundation’s kitchen is located in a student dormitory, which used to be a place of study and recreation for young people, but today this building is under attack and destruction. However, volunteers do not stop. To the sounds of explosions, by candlelight, without water, heat and electricity, they continue to cook. Bringing and distributing water, delivering groceries, cutting vegetables and meat – each of these actions requires incredible fortitude and resilience.
Hot food is the main support for fighters
In conditions of constant stress and physical fatigue on the front line, hot food becomes vital. Our volunteers prepare hundreds of servings of delicious food every day for those who defend our country. Soups, porridges, stews and other dishes help soldiers maintain strength and energy in the fight against the enemy. Cooking is not just mechanical work, it is a symbol of care and support that warms not only the body, but also the soul of our heroes.
For many defenders, food prepared by volunteers becomes not only a source of nutrients, but also moral support. It reminds us that behind the soldiers there are people who believe in them, support and care for them. This is not just a bowl of soup – it is a symbol of unity and the common struggle for the freedom of Ukraine.

The work of the foundation’s volunteers is a real demonstration of how strong and steadfast Ukrainian people can be. These people sacrifice their comfort, time, and safety every day to provide the front with everything they need. Each portion of food prepared in this kitchen symbolizes the struggle for survival and freedom. For volunteers, this work has become an important part of their lives, a way to help their country and its defenders. For them, this is not just a duty – it is a call of the heart, a desire to help those who risk their lives for the future of Ukraine.
Urgent need for support: how to help?
Today, more than ever, the Chervona Kalyna Kharkiv Foundation needs the support of every caring person. The needs at the front are growing every day, and it is becoming more and more difficult for volunteers to provide soldiers with food in the necessary amounts. Food, fuel, power generators are all vital to continue this work.
